Untitled[edit]

Until a couple of months ago there was some text at the bottom of the article about how Angie Chester was actually Playmate of the Year for 1974. It's still in the Answers.com cache of the page. The poster makes reference to Ms Chester being mentioned on the cover of Playboy, but this is not the case, at least for the American edition. [1] It seems that she was actually "Bunny of the Year" rather than Playmate of the Year, i.e. she worked in one of Playboy's clubs rather than being a model for Playboy. There's a picture of her wearing her sash near the top of this page, which is about Bunny costumes (safe for work). There's another shot of her here (also safe for work). As the first link points out, "let me make a distinction: Playmates - the girls who pose as Playboy Magazine centerfolds - currently wear Playboy Bunny costumes for doing authorized Playboy promotions - and they are not allowed to serve drinks! Playboy Club Bunnies - the kind who served drinks & waited tables - became extinct in the USA in 1988 - and as of 2006, there is a Playboy Club at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas, and that is where the only "real" Playboy Bunnies are today". -Ashley Pomeroy 00:22, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PMOYs prior to Ellen Stratton 1960?[edit]

Let me think... Marilyn Monroe, as sole "Playmate" in 1953, was PMOY for 1954, right?

Seriously, I think there's a bit of misplaced enthusiasm behind the recent edits which attempt to add "Playmate of the Year" titles to Playmates prior to Ellen Stratton, Miss December 1959, who became the first officially designated PMOY in the series that has continued ever since. I have refrained from undoing those edits only because there _was_ an informal reference in Playboy magazine to Lisa Winters as a one-off "Playmate of the Year", and a somewhat more offhanded reference regarding Joyce Nizzari. But it is misleading to include them in the list unless with an asterisk that distinguishes them from the "official" line that started with Ellen Stratton.

The addition of blank spaces for the years 1953–1956 and 1958 is a more serious overstep. The spaces incorrectly imply that there is missing information. There were _no_ PMOYs in any sense for those years, and the years themselves should not even be listed. And 1957 & 1959, need asterisks and disclaimers at the least. I agree with you on all counts. Making note, with an asterisk or some note, would alleviate any questions as to why the list is different from the template at the end of the article as well. Dismas|(talk) 01:43, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Are fictional playmates imaginary friends?[edit]

The Playmates who appear at a stage show in Apocalypse Now are introduced by the MC as "Miss August, Miss Sandra Beatty! Miss May, Miss Terri Tersay! And the Playmate of the year, Miss Carrie Foster!" This would have been in early 1969, at the earliest. Asat (talk) 22:54, 16 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Asat: I don't understand what your question is. Are you saying that we should list those characters somewhere? If so, I disagree. Dismas|(talk) 23:03, 16 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
My thinking was that since Apocalypse Now is a very high-profile film even today, some proportion of visitors to this page have probably come wondering whether the Playmates in the show are fictional or not. Asat (talk) 18:56, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Natalie Horler[edit]

Cascada's lead singer Natalie Horler appeared on the cover of Playboy magazine in August 2011, so does it count? Why, I think it does.--שי אביגד (talk) 08:04, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
