Order[edit]

There is nothing in Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lists that says a list has to be in chronological order. All other NHL broadcaster lists are in reverse chronological order. There is no consensus. Most lists on Wikipedia go in order from top to bottom, and there is no reason to go against that. History of their broadcasters doesn't start from 2014 and work its way down to 1972. It starts in 1972, and that should be where the page start. Gloss • talk 05:23, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
List of NHL All-Star Game broadcasters, List of NHL Entry Draft broadcasters, List of Stanley Cup Eastern Conference Finals broadcasters, List of Stanley Cup Finals broadcasters, List of Stanley Cup Western Conference Finals broadcasters, List of NHL outdoor games broadcasters, List of Boston Bruins broadcasters, List of Buffalo Sabres broadcasters, List of Carolina Hurricanes broadcasters, List of Chicago Blackhawks broadcasters, List of Hartford Whalers broadcasters, List of Los Angeles Kings broadcasters, List of New York Rangers broadcasters, and List of Vancouver Canucks broadcasters are all in reverse chronological order. Since there have been no disputes or revisions at all of those pages, it can be assumed that there is a consensus in favor of reverse chronological order on these types of pages. --Hirolovesswords (talk) 05:34, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Which only means they all need to be updated to go in the correct order. If you look at when these pages were originally created, you'll see it was years and years ago. Gloss • talk 05:41, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There is no such thing as "the correct order". All Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lists requires is that a list "must always be organized". Reverse chronological order is a valid way to organize a list and the one that is consensus by silence on numerous similar pages. --Hirolovesswords (talk) 05:47, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The others can be changed. As I said, that's not a valid argument. If you believe the most relevant information should be first perhaps we should go re-arrange the rest of our articles so that we find out when (for example) someone died... and then everything they did in their life, and then when they were born and their early life. We tell our stories from beginning to end, things in English go from left to right, top to bottom. It makes zero sense to suggest it's correct to list the history of the Islanders broadcasters from newest to oldest. Gloss • talk 06:25, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
First, if you want the list in chronological order, I would suggest that you put it in chronological order, as it is currently not organized that way. Secondly, this is a list, not a biography or a history. All it does is present the names of broadcasters, not "tell a story". Readers will probably be more interested in the most broadcasters, therefore those broadcasters should be listed first. --Hirolovesswords (talk) 06:58, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia doesn't run based off of user interest. It does tell a story, despite what you're saying. The "story" of this article is who served as a broadcaster for the team and when. I do plan on putting the tables themselves in chronological order, I just haven't gotten to it yet. Gloss • talk 07:01, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
