13th Missouri Infantry Regiment (Confederate)[edit]

I can find no sources to support that the 13th Mo. Infantry Regiment (Confederate) ever actually existed. A Google search brings up nothing, "familysearch.org", which is not RS states that the only mention of the regiment is on two soldier's names in a database and that it is likely an error, and McGhee's Guide to Missouri Confederate Units, which is very reliable and comprehensive, makes no mention of a 13th Mo. Infantry. Unless someone can verify that this regiment existed, it should be removed from the list. Hog Farm (talk) 21:05, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dubious entries[edit]

Similar to the 13th Infantry above, I can find no evidence for the existence of the 27th Mounted Infantry or the 13th Battalion, Mounted Infantry in reliable sources. @GELongstreet: added the units in this edit back in 2016. Do they have any idea where they were sourcing these units? If reliable sources demonstrating the existence of these two units can't be established soon, I will remove them from the list. I´m afraid I do not; I am not sure all were from a single source either. Quickly looking at my current files, which are very limited in regards to Missouri though, the only mentions of the three units above are extremely brief and rather unsufficiently in a list, for the 13th Battalion, Mounted Infantry and the aforementioned 13th Infantry Regiment, the latter with a remark of being the 14th Infantry Regiment. That is in Organization and status of Missouri troops, Union and Confederate, in service during the Civil War by the War Department from 1902 (p. 335, also online here on archive.org). No mention of the 27th though. I for one am not objecting a removal, and appreciate your work on the list. ...GELongstreet (talk) 00:29, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I'll go ahead and remove those. I've got some plans to maybe rework this list in the future. I'm leaning pretty heavily on a book detailing the Missouri CSA units published by the University of Arkansas in 2008. Hog Farm Talk 02:19, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
