Lacking Clarity[edit]

This list is lacking clarity. Many of the people listed are former members who left for various reasons, often due to negative experiences within Mensa. Isaac Asimov is a notable example who wrote about his experience. There really needs to be clarification if the person is a current or former member and if possible, their reason for leaving.

It is not a current directory. Notable people who have been members of the notable organization. Chemical Engineer (talk) 00:25, 24 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The article is titled "List of Mensans". If you aren't a member anymore then you aren't a Mensan anymore. It's not hard to grasp.

Jimmy Saville[edit]

This serial sex offender has been dead several years. Do dead people still make the list? 2600:1702:38A0:2E30:F539:C60A:3F44:4E30 (talk) 21:18, 21 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This list is a Mensa policed circle-jerk so I don't like the chances of anyone ever being removed, nor even clarified properly as mentioned in the above section.
As with other lists, the requirement is simply that they have Wikipedia articles and there is proof that they belong in the category of the list. Chemical Engineer (talk) 00:31, 24 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Notable people who have been members of a notable organization or practised a profession stay on lists even if dead, and irrespective of their moral character. Chemical Engineer (talk) 00:29, 24 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Deceased and Resigned Members[edit]

Many members on the list are deceased or had resigned during one point in their lifetimes. While I see no reason those who were members until their death should be removed from the list, there are certain indivuals who have resigned and actively expressed disdain for the organisation during the course of there lives who's names are on this list with no acknoledgemnt.

Issac Asimov for example is listed as "former vice-president of Mensa International," making him sound like a proud and active member. In reality, this was an honourary title which was given to him forcefully by Mensa and he was really an on-and-off member who said the organisation was full of "brain-proud" individuals who were "aggressive about their IQs".

It seems the list is missing information so as to make Mensa appear for prolific than it really is. Physi4 (talk) 11:45, 28 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I was assessed as being in MENSA top 1% members back in 1985[edit]

Still here and breathing but not listed. Perhaps it’s only ‘A listers’ that make the Wikipedia cut? 😎 2403:6200:8917:F0E8:7113:B8E4:790B:D7D7 (talk) 16:52, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm positive it is only "A Listers". Who wants a list of 50 thousand nobodies? But feel free to add yourself to the list, if you can cite an external reliable source for your claim.
This list is for notable persons who are also Mensa members. "Notable" in this case means that they have a Wikipedia article. It is not intended to be a list of all Mensa members. Brianyoumans (talk) 15:18, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Kind of the point I was making... /whoosh
