The data are compiled by Nielsen Soundscan based on each album's weekly physical and digital sales.
I thought digital sales were not tabulated for chart compilation until 2005. Anyway, at some point, and only a matter of years ago, there wasn't a digital sales market, so this statement should not be included on these lists of albums by year prior to that time. --Wolfer68 (talk) 20:00, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
