Issues So Far

Here's what I see right now. The region and code columns need to be either explained or dropped. A lot of these school links need to be fixed, but I think we knew that.

I think the Alpha Phi Omega Regions correspond to the Regions mentioned in Regions of the Philippines, but I don't know if they've kept up with the changes to the Regions of the Philippines over the last ? number of years. the codes are directly determined by the chapter name so Gamma Beta would be 0302.Naraht (talk) 20:11, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

I think we might want to consider breaking this up somehow. My suggestion would be by decade of chartering. So, a ==1950s== section, a ==1960s== section, etc. Just initial thoughts. Henrymrx (t·c) 19:16, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

The problem is that unlike APO-USA, each chapter can have two chartering dates, one for the Fraternity, the other for the Sorority, but I guess we can go with the first one.Naraht (talk) 20:11, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Here are some more issues that we need to be aware of:

  • Some of these school wikilinks point to different colleges or disambiguation pages and there's no corresponding article for the Filipino school. We need to decide what to do in these cases.
  • Some of these redlinked schools have probably changed names and we need to track down the correct name and see if there's an article. In some redlink cases, the school name may just be slightly different.
  • There seem to be multiple chapters for individual schools with different locations. In some cases, many chapters for the same school. It's confusing for us US APO folks.

In regards to the last one, you mean like University of California with its separate chapters at UCSD, UCLA and UCSB?Naraht (talk) 00:08, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
I mean that (for example) there are 6 different chapters listed for "AMA Computer College" and only one of them has a campus specified in its name. The 5 wikilinks redirect to AMA Computer University, which says its located in Quezon City. Only waaaayyyy down in the article does it mention "sister colleges" in other cities. It's confusing and unclear. Henrymrx (t·c) 04:42, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Agreed, I'll see what I can do. It seems like a lot more of the schools in the Philippines have multiple campuses. And some of them are sort of like APO-USA expanded to the Strayer campuses or the University of Phoenix campuses.Naraht (talk) 03:33, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Incorrect links

We have to remember that this was wrotten from a Philippines standpoint, so Northwestern University and Xavier University need to have the links changed...Naraht (talk) 20:12, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Initial Load complete

I've finished upgrading the page with the information from the Alpha Phi Omega (Philippines) 25th Biennial Convention Torch and Trefoil. Please review and let me know what changes you think need to be made. Still trying to figure out how to properly describe the code, but the Regions are described up top now.Naraht (talk) 14:53, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Factual Errors!

There are factual errors in this link and will be very way long if I will list them. But the most caught my attention is the Founding day for Kappa Beta chapter. It was on the night of August 12, 1995 that the then Our Lady of Fatima College-Annex Maysan Road, Valenzuela City was recognized by the National Executive Board as Kappa Beta chapter together with Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila as Kappa Alpha chapter. Please correct it! Thank =)

Xi Rho chapter is Southern Leyte State University-College of Teacher Education at San Isidro,Tomas Oppus, So.Leyte (Formerly Tomas Oppus Normal College and SLSU-Tomas Oppus)...petitioning group pa yung sa SLSU-Sogod main Sogod,So.Leyte Shadowheistxirho1925 (talk) 14:22, 22 February 2020 (UTC)

Shadowheistxirho1925 Is that change good?Naraht (talk) 21:47, 22 February 2020 (UTC)

Yep...our school is not SLSU sogod main... Shadowheistxirho1925 (talk) 06:43, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

Kappa Alpha and Kappa Beta and Xi Rho

(Moving things around to bring them in one place)

Please edit the founding date for Kappa Beta. It is August 12, 1995. I'm a Kappa Betan.

The correct school of XI RHO chapter is So.Leyte State University-College of Teacher Education in San Isidro,Tomas Oppus So.Leyte....the main campus in Sogod is a petitioning group...

Shadowheistxirho1925 Most of the dates there are from the T&T from the 2013 (I think) Convention. Now that the T&T is available for DY 2017-2019 at https://apo.org.ph/2019/05/31/torch-and-trefoil-dy-2017-2019/ , data should be altered to match that (with some tricks to make sure that the links from school and town names actually link to a page if possible (link is blue not red). In this new T&T, the dates for Kappa Alpha and Kappa Beta are 12-Aug-95, which means it *should* be fixed. Would you like to do it, or should I? As far as I'm concerned, this new T&T *is* the source, that the article should be using!
I'm glad you are interested in helping. I'm an Alpha Phi Omega alumnus (Fall 1986) from Kappa Chapter at Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania, USA. I'm also a very experienced Wikipedia editor, so question away!Naraht (talk) 13:28, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
Shadowheistxirho1925Also, I responded to the wrong complaint at first about the Kappa Alpha and Kappa Beta, apparently someone else had the same complaint.
As for Xi Rho. I see that https://apo.org.ph/2019/06/01/newly-recognized-charters/ describes it as Southern Leyte State University- CTE. This is the campus at Southern_Leyte_State_University#SLSU-Tomas_Oppus?Naraht (talk) 13:40, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
