William Matthews[edit]
Yes, I know he doesn't have a page yet. He is however almost certainly qualified as notable according to wikipedia guidelines. He, and all the other names I am adding to pages like this one, is being included for two reasons. The first of these is that he clearly qualifies for inclusion in wikipedia, and even is referenced. Seeing his name here might stimulate someone interested in Aberdeen to write the page, probably with more information than I have available to me. The second is that there is a real chance he never will receive a page, and in that event the minimal data present on this list is better than no data at all. It is my request that if anyone seeks to remove this name, or any others from the list, they choose to discuss doing so first. Badbilltucker 19:01, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

Undiscussed move changing scope of list[edit]
An editor moved this list from List of Aberdonians to List of people from Aberdeen without any discussion, so far as I am aware. I reverted this because, although I can see the logic that "List of people from..." seems a more standard formulation, the lead of the article makes it clear that this is a list of people from Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. If we are to move it, do we move to List of people from Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire? Or do we remove people who are not from Aberdeen? --Deskford (talk) 11:34, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
