Limited Partnerships

Does anyone know where there is a succinct yet encompassing definition of a Limited Partnership Agreement for non-lawyers? (maximum one paragraph) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nwayes (talkcontribs) 15:49, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Shouldn't "In this arrangement, the general partners are liable only for ......" under the head http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limited_partnership#United_States read as "In this arrangement, the limited partners are liable only for ......" ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.92.205.202 (talk) 07:22, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

No it seems correct as it is. The limited partners would not even be liable for the business debts of the company. I think the idea of the LLLP is to give the general partner protection from the actions of the other partners. Art Markham (talk) 16:49, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Misuse of sources

A request for comments has been filed concerning the conduct of Jagged 85 (talk · contribs). Jagged 85 is one of the main contributors to Wikipedia (over 67,000 edits, he's ranked 198 in the number of edits), and practically all of his edits have to do with Islamic science, technology and philosophy. This editor has persistently misused sources here over several years. This editor's contributions are always well provided with citations, but examination of these sources often reveals either a blatant misrepresentation of those sources or a selective interpretation, going beyond any reasonable interpretation of the authors' intent. I searched the page history, and found 6 edits by Jagged 85 in February 2008. Tobby72 (talk) 18:19, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

That's an old and archived RfC. The point is still valid though, and his contribs need to be doublechecked. Tobby72 (talk) 20:54, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Relevant here is that The Economist 29 Jan 2011 (p 64) implies that the Islamic world did not develop limited liability until it borrowed it from Europe in the 19th century. Deipnosophista (talk) 17:47, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
