Overhaul[edit]

I just completed an overhaul of this whole article. No information was summarily deleted; everything in the original was either corrected or elaborated upon, and I cited several references to make sure that we can help this article on the road to recovery. I created a diagram for ligatures, uploaded it to Wikimedia Commons and linked it here. Since this has to do with the middle ages, I am including this int he WikiProject Middle Ages; since this is pretty specialized within that context, I am assigning it a low importance. Upon reviewing what actually consists of a "stub", this does not fit that criteria anymore. I have removed references to it being a stub. According to the quality scales of both projects to which this is now a member, it most closely matches the classification "C", so I have moved it to that in both instances. Additionally, the WikiProject Middle Ages site lists a "low" importance as being "peripheral knowledge, possibly trivial". The idea of the ligature pervaded European history for over 700 years, and any moderately-educated person during the middle ages would have learned how to read ligatures, if not how to write them; this seems to give it at least a "mid" range of importance.
