Untitled[edit]

I think in the beginning of the the article to which is said, "The first GS .....debuted in 1991" In which it is ..um de facto to say that it was the Toyota Aristo which was the vehicle that had debuted , with the GS coming to america based on the Aristo. Lets not forget in all other markets this vehicle was a Toyota Aristo and not a Lexus GS , similarlly said with other Toyota models that had been rebadged as Lexus models for the United States til the 2000 where it was changing in some markets. rename?[edit]

hows about renaming the article, Toyota Aristo? There should be mention of Lexus, but the primary version (the Japanese version) was the Aristo.Sennen goroshi (talk) 17:24, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

MERGE, i think the merging of the Toyota Models as in the Aristo to GS etc are very flawed. As for the Aristo and Altezza , Harrier , Windom and Land Cruiser (not to be confused with the Land Cruiser 100 which was sold as the regular Land Cruiser sold in the USA) predated its counterparts marketed in America. So i think merging the articles flaw insight on the models. I see there was no issue that all the HOnda models all got seperate pages and denotes altho there are many flaws about asian model marketed versions and relation to other models but they were seperated. The Aristo , altho going directly under the Lexus Marque in 2006 predates the american GS by almost 3 years has lots of non similar features not listed . Just as the Soarer . All the models i see merged as in the Altezza/IS , Aristo/GS , Harrier should atleast show both names of the vehicle past of persent on the page or get its own page. On many of these articles , like where it denotes "also called" Toyota Aristo (JDM) these models such as the Aristo , Harrier , Celsior , Soarer , Windom , and Crown line of vehicles were not just sold in japan. They were sold in many left hand drive asian countries in the 90's also. So to label it distinctly as a JDM model is incorrect. Multiple sources indicate that the Aristo, Soarer, Harrier, Celsior lines were Japan-only models, however some sales of RHD Aristo, Soarer, Harrier, etc. in Asia and elsewhere were made through grey imports or personal imports, as seen in [1] [2], [3], [4]. As such, they were still domestic vehicles, as they were not officially marketed or produced for those export countries, rather they were acquired by other companies to sell there. Exceptions - the Crown, and it is not a Lexus model, and the Harrier, which was both a RHD grey import [5] and as a regular import in some parts of Asia. If you have any sources for official marketing on the Aristo in other markets, please feel free to share. Also to note regarding Lexus: it was in North America and Europe by 1991, Oceania and parts of Asia through the late 90's-00's, and only Japan in 2005; starting with the first LS 400, it was designed from the ground up as a Lexus, and only rebadged as Celsior for Japan sales. Some other Lexus models have not been as separate as the LS 400, but most are now. The third and (coming) fourth generation GS sedans are as such. JZS161[edit]

It does: "In August 1997, the second generation Toyota Aristo was launched in Japan, codenamed JZS160 (S300 version) for models with 2JZ-GE engines and JZS161 (V300 version) for those with 2JZ-GTE twin-turbocharged engines". OSX (talk • contributions)

Okiboicii@, Is the new GS shown at Monterey Car Week in August 2015 a new generation or just a face lift? What proof do you have? Note that Toyota and Lexus are well known as saying "ALL NEW" at every opportunity - including face lifts.  Stepho  talk

Start of production 1991 vs 1993[edit]

The article states "The Lexus GS is a mid-size luxury car sold by Lexus, the luxury division of Toyota sold since 1993. It was sold as the Toyota Aristo in Japan from 1991 until the release of the third generation in 2005." But the infobox says production started in 1993. There is a conflict here. If the Aristo is the same car as the GS then production started in 1991. Or if we consider that the Aristo and the GS are not badge engineered variants of each other than we need to remove the sentence that says they were the same car. ubl vs unbulleted list[edit]

ThePersecuted@, we have a difference of opinion. You prefer the short form of {{ubl}} while I think it is cryptic and hard to understand for newer editors. {{unbulleted list}} is much more descriptive, which helps newer editors instead of putting up a barrier for them.

Likewise, you prefer the hard to read – while I prefer the much simpler – character. Both display as the same Unicode ndash character but the single character is so much easier to read. The long form breaks up sentences, making them hard to read and distracting the editor from the meaning of the sentence.

Lastly, I'm not sure why you think I have ownership issues. You made many other changes in that single large edit which I left alone. A look through the history shows that I am quite happy to share with others. WP:BRD suggests that when some of your changes are reverted then you should discuss it on the talk page instead of just reverting.  Stepho  talk  11:03, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Details about the 2003 GS430 TTE version[edit]

Hi there,

In France, I found an English GS430 TTE (Toyota Team Europe). This car have the 4.3 V8, 5 speed manual. She is black exterior and black interior. She got paddle shift, nothing very differents. But she has a different front grid, ba spoiler on the back, some « sport » body kit elements. And she make 300hp (and not 294hp like many English 3UZ-FE). Did someone got any information to add on this one on the wiki ?

2013 model year[edit]

I'm confused about why the fourth generation, introduced in Dec 2011 is known as the 2013 model year in the US. I would understand calling it the 2012 model year because it encompasses 1 Jan 2012. But why skipping ahead a whole year to 2013? The reference given is from March 2012 and calls it the 2013 model year, so I kind of have to accept it but I still don't understand why.  Stepho  talk  00:29, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
