One of the community names was Honeytown. There are several more encomapssing the various farm family areas; a general store, school house, post office, a small market & clusters of non farming residents. There were hundreds of families who had to find new homes, livelihoods & farms. I am a descendant of Letterkenny farmers from the Honeytown area & knew a few others who grew up & lived there. If I can find the time, I will add some of the history of the area before the government buyout of the land. Franklincountygrrl (talk) 06:08, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

During the WWII, the Letterkenny Army Depot was camp of the 1st. Italian Battalion formed by ex italian POW from Africa front after October 1943. The italian soldiers build the little church of the camp and some other buildings. The Letterkenny's newsletter publish some photos and articles about the italians in the camp. My father Virginio was soldier in Letterkenny.
