article title[edit]

According to WP:THE the definite article "The" should only be used in limited circumstances for article titles (examples include The New York Times). From the sign in the photo at the bottom of this article the definite article is not part of the name of the facility since it reads: "Leo Magnus Cricket Complex Welcomes You... City of Los Angeles - Recreation & Parks Department". I propose moving this article to Leo Magnus Cricket Complex and remove "The" from the article title. 69.119.27.73 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 02:24, 22 July 2009 (UTC).[reply]

It might be helpful if Woodley Cricket Field was a redirect to Leo Magnus Cricket Complex, but the misspelt Woolley Cricket Field (sic) should probably be done away with, since it is a typographical error. 69.119.27.73 (talk) 02:31, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup[edit]

Just tried to take a whack at this article, which was basically one sort-of run-on paragraph.

I removed information that said it had a 5,000-seat stadium — I could find no evidence of this anywhere, including looking at Google Maps satellite view. If I'm wrong, please find a source and add it back in.

Some online sources seem to indicate there's a fifth ground, called "Village Green" to the east of the four main grounds.[1] That area looks pretty treed to me; I don't really see a clear pitch. It may be more of an informal rec ground. Anybody who could weigh in on this would be very helpful.

Does anyone know if the complex is really owned by the Army Corps? Is it not the City of LA (parks dept.)? Woodshed (talk) 07:53, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I spent today at the park, and only counted four grounds that were distinct to me, but I'm not a cricket player... the fields are part of a larger open area, so there could well be some more casually used portions. The reason that the Parks Department leases the land from the Army Engineering Corps is because the Sepulveda Basin is actually a flood control basin for the Los Angeles River, though very rarely needs to function in that capacity.
