Youth League (Italy)Lega Giovani – There is no need to translate the name to English, also given that there is no common usage of the term "Youth League" in English sources. Furthermore, "Youth League (Italy)" also sounds like a sports youth league, in English. • Oppose. If there is no common name in English, then it should be translated. See WP:UE. 162 etc. (talk) 15:59, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
From WP:UE: "If there is no established English-language treatment for a name, translate it if this can be done without loss of accuracy and with greater understanding for the English-speaking reader." In this case "youth league" is definitely not the only possible translation, nor the most adherent to the original Italian name. --Yakme (talk) 16:14, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • If that's the case, please suggest a better translation. 162 etc. (talk) 17:05, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It is not easy to translate such name in English. Better to keep it in Italian, like also Lega per Salvini Premier or Lega Nord, the main parties relative to this youth section. Yakme (talk) 17:08, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'd argue that these article titles could also be translated to use League rather than Lega; as a matter of fact, that has been suggested at Lega per Salvini Premier which is in RM right now. 162 etc. (talk) 17:17, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It has been suggested, yes. But never approved by consensus, like for the case of Lega Nord, where move requests to "Northern League" have failed in the past. Also, "Youth League" is definitely not a good translation; for example, I think it could be better and clearer to use the mixed "Lega Youth" as a translation of Lega Giovani, but of course at this point we can just leave the full Italian name. This is why I support using the untranslated Lega Giovani (which is also naturally disambiguating, by the way). Yakme (talk) 17:32, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment. There is an update: Lega per Salvini Premier has been moved to Lega (political party) by consensus, so also in this case no English translation. I think "Lega Giovani" is the best option at this point. Yakme (talk) 10:20, 28 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Consistency with Lega (political party), Lega Nord and several other parties including lega or liga in their names. --Checco (talk) 17:49, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. A translation should be used only if it provides a greater understanding for English speakers. In this case, translating the name does the exact opposite of this, because it obscures the connection between this youth wing and its parent Lega parties. — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! • Support. WP:UE certainly does not mandate translation of every foreign name into English. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:31, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
