GA Review[edit]

Pass The article comprehensively covers the subject's tennis career, while mentioning relevant tangential information such as birth, parents, and a controversies section. It contains a sufficient quantity of inline citations (although some citations for the "early life" section would be necessary to pass FA review down the road). Grammar appears correct, and prose is adequate, but could use improvement to be more eloquent (again, with FA review in mind). The first four sentences of the section titled "Early Career" are a good example of where better prose is needed. "Leander did 'x'." He rose to 'y'. In 1992 he reached 'z'." Some transitional terms such as "then", "after", "despite", "interestingly" etc... would help the prose be more compelling. New page outlining his achievements[edit]

As the page is currently 43 kilobytes long, would it be better to start a new page with his grand slams and all titles on it to improve the current page and make it smaller.~Gibsonslash 21:14, 17 September 2009 (GMT)~

Relationship to Michael Madhusudan Dutt[edit]

I have generalised Paes' relationship to Dutt in the article, purely due to lack of proper references. The article itself seems conflicted, with Paes being described as both his great grandson as well as great-great grandson.

Forbes India says Dutt was Paes' great-great-great grandfather.
The Telegraph says that Dutt was Paes' great-great grandfather.
Trans World Features, whose writer seems to have actually visited Dutt's ancestral home in Jessore (in present-day Bangladesh), agrees with The Telegraph.
NationMaster (external link blocked by Wikipedia) says Dutt was Paes' great grandfather (i.e. Paes was his great grandson).
Yahoo agrees with NationMaster.

Of course, other than the TWF article author I'm unsure what sources the others used for their statements, or whether they just regurgitated information they found after a casual web search. Personally, I'm inclined to believe what The Telegraph and TWF say, but given the lack of clarity and detailed genealogical information regarding Paes' ancestry, I believe a generalised description of the relationship is best. I have seen you play in various Davis cup matches in Delhi. Your tennis prowess is phenomenal. Your court coverage and ground strokes are amazing.I still remember you used to put lot of oil on your legs while playing. During that time, you have given impeccable performance.

GA Reassessment?[edit]

This article was last GA reviewed (successfully) in 2009. The article has since changed considerably. It now has several prose-related problems, as shown in the template. Many statements in the body are unsourced. I feel a {{More citations needed}} template is also needed. With so many problems, a GA reassessment will be needed. I have nominated this article for GA reassessment, as it does not meet the good article criteria. The article was last reviewed in 2009, and has changed considerably since then. It consists of several prose-related problems, and also lacks citations, as shown in the templates. Also, there has recently been no major contributor for this article.
