Discontinued?[edit]

The Latma page (and some of the links in this article) appear to be no longer correct. It seems that Latma may have discontinued their program (see this JPost article). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Trachten (talkcontribs) 11:09, 31 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Move[edit]

The article should be moved to Latma and its scope expanded. Latma TV is only one of the activities of the group (though it's the only one in English). See its website. Jalapenos do exist (talk) 09:16, 7 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. It's not really a television show, and as far as I am aware, is not regularly shown on any television channel/network. —Ynhockey (Talk) 17:53, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Merge[edit]

  • Support We currently have a separate article on the video, We Con the World, that this group is most famous for creating. I don't think we need separate articles on the group and the video - both are fairly short, and they can easily be covered in the same article. Without the content about the video, there'd be very little to say about this group in any case. Please comment on this proposed merge below. Robofish (talk) 13:59, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • OpposeReasons:
  • 1) there is a lot of coverage of this video.
  • 2) it did cause a minor diplomatic dust-up
  • 3) it now emerges that the allegations made by Glick et al were correct, that is, 50 Turkish activists boarded the ship without going through metal detectors but with knives and guns and with the explicit intention of violently attacking the IDF and making Israel look bad, for "the world, the web and CNN." Evidence has also surfaced that Erdogen had assured Israeli diplomats that the ship was filled with people committed to non-violence, although he arranged for the violent group to board without the metal detectors. See today's Haaretz. In other words, the ship actually was a con.
  • 4) Because this political spoof has been shown to be a more accurate representation of events than that provided by CNN and the BBC, I confidently predict that
  • 5) There will be a series of articles/commentaries referencing it
  • 6)It will be remembered as the video that launched Latma TV to notice beyond the small world of the Israeli political right. Inman Street, June 8, 2010. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Inman St. (talkcontribs) 17:46, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose tempting otherstuffexists, since viral videos is a widely accepted legitimate article, and the fact that this one has received much international mention, it is a definite keep. --Shuki (talk) 22:54, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Harvesting organs[edit]

The Swedish article claimed that Israel was harvesting organs from Palestinians that died in their custody. An anonymous IP editor keeps adding a statement that the discovery of illegal organ harvesting from a decade earlier confirms the Swedish article. But the articles about the organ harvesting in the '90s does not confirm it. The harvesting was done to members of the general population. Yes, this included Palestinians, as it did Israelis and foreign workers. But this is not what the Swedish article claimed. I've attempted to remove this inappropriate edit, and the anonymous editor has reverted me now 4 times in a row. - Lisa (talk - contribs) 03:19, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Since I don't want to violate 3RR, I'd appreciate it if someone else could remove the inappropriate statement. Thanks. - Lisa (talk - contribs) 03:20, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have changed it to what the source actually says, however the question is then whether there is too much detail for this article (i.e. should expanding be limited to the destination article about hte controversy). Casliber (talk · contribs) 03:28, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Addendum - needless to say, I hope we can continue this in a more negotiating manner. To the IP, I can semi-protect the article if edit-warring continues, just as I can block editors. So do we agree the above is okay? I will lock the page for six hours to allow discussion to continue. Casliber (talk · contribs) 03:36, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Comments[edit]

I should clarify I have no strong opinion either way on the content of this article. My edit was intended strictly as a compromise based on the information above. If folks wish to comment on whether the current bit in dispute is too much detail (or make another comment) please reply below. Casliber (talk · contribs) 04:43, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion, even your edit goes too far. Stating that this was done to Palestinians, when it was done to a general populace that happened to include Palestinians, and omitting the fact that the Swedish accusation was that Israel had done this to Palestinians who had died in Israeli custody (which is baseless), creates a false representation of the facts. - Lisa (talk - contribs) 12:21, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The issue doesn't have to be battled out on this of all pages. There's a link to the page about the controversy. If there's a dispute about this, it should take place there and not here. - Lisa (talk - contribs) 13:46, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Good point - I'd overlooked that it was the general populace. On looking at it, I can see your point that the detail can/should be fleshed out on the main topic page. Casliber (talk · contribs) 14:24, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Credits[edit]

The article lacks a list of credits, including the names of the on-screen talent and writers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.111.71.197 (talk) 00:27, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

i noticed it. hello, i'm not new in Wikipedia, but i wasn't here long. i want you to know me: i'm Shlomi Catz- one of the writers in Latma (appears in credits sometimes). i hope it's OK i added the staff. i thought that maybe you need little info. hope i helped. 1418 (talk) 22:16, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I made major changes to the article[edit]

The website is first and foremost about media criticism with the "Tribal update" being something extra. I think the current article reflects that better. TFighterPilot (talk) 13:35, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
