Working on the article[edit]

To Indiecat, and anyone else who's interested: Let's talk about improving the article. I think there are three things to concentrate on at first.

  1. Format and structure. The article needs to conform to the Manual of Style for articles. To begin with, the article should not start with a ==Header==. It should just begin with the first sentence. The rest of the article should be structured according to the WikiProject Films style guide.
  2. Tone and point of view. All the subjective language that can't be attributed to a direct quote from an outside source must be removed. This is an encyclopedia article, and information must be presented from a neutral point of view. Descriptions such as "remarkably deft" and "passionate, convincing performances" are subjective value judgments, not statements of fact. If you can find similar statements from reputable critics, then those can be used, properly cited (more on that in my next point), in the "Reception" section of the article.
  3. References and citations. Simply adding more external links is not adequate. Each statement of fact (other than in the direct description of the film--the source there is presumed to be the film itself) and each quoted or paraphrased opinion must be supported by a separate citation. There are a variety of ways to do this, and they are described at WP:CITE. The simplest method for citing Web sources would be to use inline links: After each statement needing a reference, place the relevant URL in single brackets [like this].

I know you want to do well by your film, but Wikipedia is not a free space for advertising and self-promotion. Sooner or later, this article has to change. At the moment it reads like a publicity kit, not an encyclopedia article. You can resist my suggestions in the short run, but in the long term, other editors will come in and make many of the same changes I tried to make. --ShelfSkewed Talk 04:43, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
