Two things: mention in the first paragraph that Larry's dad was called Larry, otherwise the 'Jr.' discussion doesn't really make sense at that point (?) Change to 'Irish national soccer team' (?) Best, mat_x 08:44, 11 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Son's name

I've seen this page altered and then reverted at least twice about this. Can anyone provide a source for his last son's name?

[This] says that Mullen has 3 children: Son: Aaron Elvis Mullen (b. 3-Oct-1995),

Daughter: Ava Elizabeth (b. 28-Dec-1998) & Daughter: Anya (b. 8-Feb-2001). Underneath-it-All 15:22, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Ooops, I mean daugther :) I reverted the last edit, since we have a source now. --Kristbg 15:58, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Wikiquote

Since the articles name has been changed to Larry Mullen Jr. the original wikiquote page link is now wrong. I can't seen to figure out how to revert this. The wikiquote page was made under this articles previous name Larry Mullen. Underneath-it-All 18:45, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

It's fixed now. I added a redirect to the wikiquote article. By the way, should we also clean up the articles on Bono, The Edge and Adam Clayton and move the quotes to wikiquote? --Kristbg 00:47, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

That sounds like a great idea!! Underneath-it-All 00:58, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

Infamous??

Please explain how a notice asking people to join as it turns out to be one of the biggest rock bands of the last 25 years be considered infamous?

Roman Catholic

Is it really that relevant that he's the only member of U2 who is a baptised Roman Catholic that that needs to be included in the first line of the article? It would be better further down, in background somewhere. Willnz0 02:29, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

But now it seems to be omitted completely, which seems very remiss. andycjp (talk) 08:14, 9 October 2012 (UTC)

Is he famous for being Catholic? Is it citable or relevant? WP:UNDUE may apply and WP:CITE definitely does. Heiro 08:47, 9 October 2012 (UTC)

Lawrence or Laurence?

The Book "U2 by U2" spells Larry's full name as "Laurence" and in the dedications/thanks pages at the end, Larry dedicates the book to "My parents Laurence and Maureen Mullen and to my sister Mary."

Interesting. I too have the book - maybe if we can't find anything better, we need to change it. --Merbabu 23:45, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
The two major American perfoming rights organizations (the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers [1] and Broadcast Music Incorporated [2] consider his first name to be spelt Laurence. They have a serious interest in getting his name right. Labalius (talk) 23:06, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Plagiarism

On comparing to the text of this article to my own bio of Larry, I see that some of it has been copied here virtually word for word, particularly in the 'Personal' section. I don't object to this particularly but it would be nice if I was credited for it. Would that be appropriate in light of Wikipedia's strict linking policy? 84.65.144.145 21:29, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

If it was indeed plagiarised it would be a problem. On the other hand, it would not be the first time that a web-site has copied info from wikipedia and then someone pointed out that the two were very similar. Although this anon IP Is claiming that it is his website. Perhaps give this person the benefit of the doubt and cite his site - and then re-write the section as it could be a lot better. I would do the re-write but I have other wikipedia priorities. regards --Merbabu 00:14, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

If you look at the history of the text of the page, 75% of the text was lifted directly from @U2. Subsequent revisions have given it its own identity, but I'd suggest that both biographies were derived from @U2 as an original source (Certainly based on the age of each page). Besides, how many different ways are there of telling the same story? Having said that, I love how Merbabu suggest that the solution to a plagiarism claim is to rewrite the section... what is the wikipedia policy on taking a plagiarized article and simply running each word through a thesaurus to make it "original content". It is sad that Wikipedia doesn't allow external links to the fan sites that it steals most of its material from (Most U2 fan sites are far superior to the two official links presented on the U2 wikipedia page). Generally, the line is drawn when the sentence structure is the same. I noticed the plagiarism, that's why I rewrote it. You're right, the info is really useful. Neranei (talk) 17:05, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Photo

I know photos are generally hard to come by without being copyrighted, but does a photo of him playing keyboards make sense considering he is a drummer? Phillies26 01:29, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, that picture is a joke (actually it's a nice picture but most people don't even know he plays keyboards). Can someone get a picture of him playing drums. Gibsoninside 23:09, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Larry a smoker?

Is this true? I didn't think any of the u2 members smoked anymore. Is there a source that confirms this? Peter2012

In U2 by U2, Paul McGuinness said that he and Adam quit, and the other three smoke. Phillies26 02:08, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

and there was a staged studio picture of the band a month or two ago in Q magazine - Larry is smoking - what a doofus! ;-) For citation purposes, I think it was Jan or Feb addition, or was it March?? - the issue where they discussed the new album. Merbabu 13:34, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

GA review

Hello. I will be reviewing this article to see if it is of GA quality. You'll be glad to hear that, since it does not meet any of the "quick-fail" criteria, I will be reviewing it fully shortly. Regards, Agüeybaná 17:29, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Thank you very much. I look forward to the feedback! Love, Neranei (talk) 17:32, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
The article looks great. Just a few observations: 1.) Is it possible to add actual content to the "awards" section? (For example, a summary of all the awards won by the group) 2.) Is it possible to mention the other instruments he plays in the article? (It's currently only being mentioned in the infobox). --Agüeybaná 17:40, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
"Just before they won a Limerick, Ireland talent contest, they changed their name again, for the final time, to U2, formally done at a farewell concert for Dick Evans, becoming the 4-piece U2." The last part is redundant. Could you fix that? --Agüeybaná 22:50, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
On it! Neranei (talk) 23:52, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! I'll run around changing templates and all that. Neranei (talk) 00:00, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Don't bother; I'll do it. --Agüeybaná 00:01, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

How refreshing that GA reviewer writes, "Don't bother; I'll do it". What a nice person. --andreasegde 16:50, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
