Township vs. District Municipality

I don't know what happened with that move, but here's the deal. It is a district municipality, but since it was a township first, it kept the title.

"Incorporated as a District Municipality 26 April 1873, called the Corporation of the Township of Langley. "Langley (Municipal District)" adopted in the 18th Report of the Geographic Board of Canada, 31 March 1924, p.357. Re-approved 11 February 1936 on 92G/2 as labelled on BC map 2B, 1914. A small portion on the western side of the District Municipality was re-incorporated as the City of Langley 15 March 1955." BCGNIS - TheMightyQuill 08:07, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Neighbourhoods

I just moved most of the Langley neighbourhoods from Neighbourhood, British Columbia to Neighbourhood, Langley as per WP:CANSTYLE. I'm willing to leave Aldergrove, British Columbia and Fort Langley, British Columbia alone though. Both predate Langley township, and both have maintained a kind of independent community status, partly by being geographically separated. Besides, Fort Langley, Langley sounds stupid. =) - TheMightyQuill (talk) 15:08, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

We have beaches in Langey? Where? -- 62.68.185.228 18:35, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

River, I assume. -- Steven Fisher 16:08, 22 May 2006 (UTC)\
Apparently there are some in the Fort Langley area, near Derby on the riverfront. This calls for some in-field investigation though :p...--Keefer4 09:11, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

There is a beach at Derby Reach Regional Park. Not great swimming in the Fraser but its definitely a beach. Scroll down for a photo > http://www.jiwiz.com/DerbyReach.html Smacg (talk) 22:43, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Council

Would somebody please add to the article an indication of when the last election took place, and when the term of the current council is going to end? Thanks, PKT(alk) 19:31, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Move discussion in progress

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Langley, British Columbia (city) which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 04:29, 29 March 2013 (UTC)

"Major" Neighbourhoods

I have noticed some people have added some of the smaller neighbourhoods like Fernridge and Derby. The idea of that category on the page is to cover the most populated neighbourhoods in Langley that are considered their own towns, otherwise we'd be adding Gloucester and Hopington and a bunch of others. However these areas are important, but I am unsure how to restructure the page to include the smaller neighbourhoods, perhaps a "smaller neighbourhoods" section or something like that? Any suggestions? James.bc (talk) 04:39, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

Name

I think we should change the article's name to the Township of Langley because that's what a lot of people use and the signs says so also the district's website use it also. RebaFan1996 (talk) 01:50, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

I think the article should be titled Langley, British Columbia (Township). Colloquially no one refers to it as a District Municipality. Township would confirm passively what people are looking for when the search for the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by HyperbolicSheet (talkcontribs) 21:31, 9 June 2013 (UTC)
