Relationship to Psalmodikon?[edit]

Is the Psalmodikon a simplified version of the Langeleik, or are they unrelated? --scruss 02:29, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I find it very likely that Psalmodikon was inspired by an instrument like langeleik, scheitholt, Hummel, langspil or other similar instrument, but I have no proof of this. --User:Túrevaryar 10:34, 7 October 2009 (CET)
The original psalmodicon was invented by J. W. Bruun in Denmark in 1823 and although it's likely he knew about the Norwegian langeleik, it's not likely it was a major inspiration for him. However, the Norwegian variant of the psalmodicon, developed by Lars Roverud and Christopher Hansteen around 1830 and the most common and stereotypical variant, seems to have been inspired by the langeleik. --User:Frank_Nordberg 11:32, 17 November 2010 (CET)
