Anybody know why the original name "Lake Gill" was changed? The article is crying out for that explanation. Bjenks (talk) 06:21, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
In respect to your request, I did several searches on Trove and found the following article which states in part - "In 1846 J. A. Horrocks attempted to explore the country, and got as far as Lake Gill, as he named it, but Babbage unfortunately called it Lake Dutton, after the Commissioner of Crown Lands." - http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article96726342.
