I'm not sure La Poudre Pass Lake exists at all, at least not anymore. I visited here in 2000, tramped all over the area south of the continental divide, and found nothing more than a swampy meadow.

Current satellite views do not show more than a tiny pond, directly across Grand Ditch from the ranger station - perhaps a borrow pit from Grand Ditch maintenance activities after its recent disaster. It is possible that a larger pond existed here at one time due to a dam built by beavers, but it's also possible that this beaver pond evolved into a meadow as is the natural course of many beaver ponds. La Poudre Pass Lake is shown on some older topo maps. However, current satellite imagery shows the tiny stream of the Colorado River disappearing into a green meadow where those older topo maps show La Poudre Pass Lake. The topography and vegetation I observed here do resemble many other places where beaver ponds have evolved naturally into meadows.

So, what to do with this article? Delete it entirely and redirect to La Poudre Pass? Or if somebody could actually find La Poudre Pass Lake and post a photo of it, that would be good - especially since this humble and possibly former body of water is claimed to be the source of the great Colorado River. With a grandiose claim like that, and a link directly from Colorado River to here, we should certainly do our best to determine if it even exists. U52983 (talk) 01:00, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinate error[edit]
