Movie?[edit]

There has been many a rumour about a movie version of the musical version, thereby creating a movie trilogy, the original French movie, the American version, and the Musical.

Anyone know anything more about the rumours?

That's nothing: Victor Victoria was a German film (Viktor und Viktoria) , then a British film (First a Girl), then an American film, then a musical. Saxophobia 21:32, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Point of View![edit]

This article has horrible point of view issues. Which, of course, have no place in Wikipedia.--75.83.158.193 00:25, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tony Award-winning[edit]

I don't think intros should start off by describing musicals as "Tony Award-winning". It should start by telling who the musical is created by and what it is based on. Then it should talk about unique features of the work and finally, towards the end of the intro, notability, including that it won the Tony for best show, book or score (also mentioned in infobox). Note that there is a whole section on awards, so starting off with "Tony Award-winning" is very repetitive, and also doesn't tell the reader *which* Tony award. I also don't like when these intros start with "famous musical" or "popular musical". Again, it is vague, and notability should be described more clearly in the second paragraph of the intro. -- Ssilvers 13:47, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:LaCagePoster.JPG[edit]

Image:LaCagePoster.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Setting[edit]

I know the musical is set in France, but does anyone know the time period? —Mears man (talk) 19:09, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I suspect the time period is such that the song Georges is trying to remember is "Your Eyes are the Eyes of a Woman in Love" written by Frank Loesser for Guys and Dolls (1955), since the melodies are nearly identical. Quelle embarrassment! WordwizardW (talk) 13:09, 11 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

International Productions[edit]

Can anyone find sources for these productions? I am looking to tidy up this section but am struggling to find the relevent information.Mark E (talk) 21:48, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment[edit]

One project assessed this as B, while another assessed it as Start. I've split it down the middle and reassessed as C. Although good progress has been made on this article recently, it is clearly not a B-class article, as it has no analysis section either for text or music; little critical and box office response information; it could use more background/genesis info, including info about its place in musical theatre history and in the history of gay culture; and info about recordings and popular songs/standards from the musical (e.g. "The Best of Times"). For more ideas, see the article structure page at WP:MUSICALS. -- Ssilvers (talk) 13:57, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
