It would be helpfull if a list of programs supporting LV2 is listed.

This page says it is a successor to LADSPA (which is used to process audio signals.) Then at the end of the article it says it is a successor to DSSI (which is used to process music/MIDI signals.) If it is a hybrid design which can compass both digital audio and synth/instrument triggers (and thus does actually replace both) this could be made much more clear.
