  • Article is close to meeting DYK criteria, and copyvio checks out. Looks like you still owe QPQ, though, @Muboshgu:? One concern I have is that many of the sources from Newspapers.com are behind a paywall, although not the hook's. Is there any possibility these newspapers are archived by a local public library or some similar institution where they are openly available? I also think you need to make a two quick orthographic updates to the article: 1) there's a typo / incomplete sentence in the Early life section - "He graduated from Gettysburg High School.[1] and began selling life insurance." ; and 2) in the same section, Hereford in Hereford cattle should be capitalized. As far as the hook goes, I think the first one is best, but may I suggest a tiny, one-word revision for concision:
  • ALT0b... that Dances with Wolves was filmed on a 60,000-acre (24,000 ha) ranch owned by L. Roy Houck, former lieutenant governor of South Dakota? Hportfacts5 (talk) 14:10, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Hportfacts5: Just a drive-by comment: while sources aren't required to be openly viewable, it is relatively easy for a newspapers.com subscriber to make openly viewable clippings of these sources. I do suggest using clippings if the nominator is able to do so, though. epicgenius (talk) 14:41, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Hportfacts5:, QPQ provided. I haven't tried clipping newspapers.com articles before, but I can look into how to do that. – Muboshgu (talk) 01:44, 26 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Muboshgu: thanks very much. Maybe the clippings are a later improvement to the article; I'm not familiar with the process myself. My understanding of epicgenius's comment is that there is a way for people to access the information, so it shouldn't keep your article from DYK. This is ready for DYK. • I have formatted all the Newspapers.com refs the way they ask them to be formatted at WP:Newspapers.com. Muboshgu I'm happy to explain the procedure to you on my talk page. @Hportfacts5: please take another look to see if the hook facts are verified in the now visible sources. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 01:41, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thank you Yoninah, very helpful. The new clips do in fact confirm the facts cited in either hook. Hportfacts5 (talk) 14:18, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yoninah, thanks for doing that! I'll take a look and ask you if I have any q's. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:07, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
