Himmler was caught/committed suicide here[edit]

Is this where Himmler was caught??? Dzoni 22:01, 11 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. --Chl 00:34, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you
CAN YOU ADD THAT TO THIS ARTICLE,PLEASE?Dzoni 18:01, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I added itDzoni 11:28, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The text that read "His body was found in his cell" is incorrect. I have therefore deleted it from this section. I added no further information because the Wikipdea page on Himmler gives a detailed account of his suicide.

Further to the above question concerning where Himmler was caught, according to my information he was caught at a British Army checkpoint while crossing a bridge over the River Oste near Zeven in Lower Saxony.Lou Nieburg (talk) 19:45, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Description of the FdN organization[edit]

I believe a brief description of the organization is in place to justify the inclusion on the article. If making a reference to the organization doesn't violate "undue weight", I think it would be important to give a small reference to what kind of activity is carried by the organization. If we apply the same criteria for other possible NGOs on similiar level, in Lüneburg, I believe it could take no more than 2 ou 3 paragraphs.

The reference itself didn't violate original research. If there is no proper justification for the removal of this information, I will add it again in the near future. Perhaps we can find some consensus in the final version by cutting some of the information that is necessary to understand what an NGO in Lüneburg is involved in. Here is the section I removed:

Since 1991, the organisation tries to defend isolated indigenous populations in locations such as the Amazon, Papua New Guinea and Central Africa. They believe that the lifestyle of these peoples is unique in that it involves a non-exploitative relationship with nature, in contrast to the destructive processes of modern industrial society. Their mission is to oppose all forms of imperialism and colonialism against tribal peoples and to seek the protection of their culture and identity. Since its foundation, the organisation has brought the issue of indigenous rights further into the mainstream.

If you look at the many other organisations mentioned under e.g. Cuisine, Transport or Economy and Infrastructure, you will see there are just a few words to explain what type of firm they are. Whilst mention of the FdN seems appropriate, the reason I removed the rest of the paragraph was that it seemed like too much information on one organisation of the many in Lüneburg and the tone sounded a bit like a 'plug' or 'promotion' e.g. the last sentence, which is a substantial claim that needs a citation. If the organisation is notable, my suggestion would be to create a new article - even if it's a stub to begin with - and put the information there. Then link from this article as has been done with Holsten Brewery, Johnson Controls and Hamburger Verkehrsverbund, for example. HTH. --Bermicourt (talk) 05:49, 30 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The gently sloping tower of St. John[edit]

"The gently sloping tower of St. John"

LOL, that is one of the steepest towers I have ever seen. It's a caption for a picture located around halfway through the article. (seemed halfway on my netbook) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.245.156.18 (talk) 19:06, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for spotting that. "Sloping" should be "leaning". I've changed it to "slightly leaning spire" which is at least more accurate! --Bermicourt (talk) 19:36, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's not an 'INNER suburb' of Hamburg - it's 28 miles away, for crying out loud. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.2.211.74 (talk) 20:50, 6 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Notable people[edit]

The section for notable people contains over thirty entries for people who have no link to the English version of Wikipedia, but are linked to the German version. Only about 20 are linked to entries in the English version. Searching the English version there are a potential 34 "people from Lüneburg". I propose to delete the former (unlinked) and insert the latter (linked), and to list them in birth date order. I think this will provide a more readable and informative list of notable people.

Any views?
