Alternative facts[edit]

  • It ain´t KuPS but HJK who has the record of consecutive seasons at the first tier, i.e. since 1964.
  • Team picture has nothing to do with the year 1923. Club history books suggest the picture is from the 30´s.
  • To lose in semifinals of the Finnish Championship competition 1923 is something else than “playing friendly games against other local clubs. KPS (club abbreviation at that time) took part in Finnish championship competitions (in cup format up to 1929) six times in the 20´s.

  • Article presents KuPS were in the second tier 1930-35 referring RSSSF (Reference 3) which says “The second level of the Finnish League was played for the first time in 1936. From 1930 to 1935, there were only qualification tournaments to decide which teams would earn promotion to the first level.” I think RSSSF do not present facts about Finnish football. There are lots of books that say the second tier was played the first time in 1930. I.e. the fact is right but the reference tells an alternative fact.
