Ecky Thump[edit]

Not sure if it matters but I feel it should be noted that the phrase 'Ecky Thump' appeared in a Monty Python episode from three years before this one, specifically Series 3 of MPFC, the episode The All-England Summarize Proust Competition from November of 1972.2604:2D80:5291:4500:BCBB:5A0B:2A0D:D152 (talk) 02:19, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

School incident[edit]

I recall another incident relating to this episode which also made national headlines. I was there when it happened and for sure the Daily Mirror covered it, probably other papers also. A vague feeling it was front page of the Mirror.

So if anyone has access to the Mirror from around that time (British Newspaper Archive?), a dig should find a story about Stand Grammar School and its headmaster, David Hudson, who got walloped on the head with a black pudding in assembly by a flat-capped pupil, subsequently expelled (which I think the Mirror considered excessive punishment for what was no more than damaged dignity). - Sitush (talk) 15:08, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
