Fanstastic Live Shows[edit]

DOB looks wrong[edit]

Last time I looked her date of birth was around the mid 60s but someone's changed it to 1973. That can't be right unless, of course, she really was 8 when she became Miss Washington in 1981. Lost4eva 21:53, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The artist's date and year of birth, June 3, 1968, was confirmed directly by the artist herself in March, 2008 at the Winter Music Conference industry event in Miami, Florida. I just read through this article and reached the same conclusion about the date of birth. No offense intended to Kristine, whose music is great, but if she was born in 1968 she'd have been Miss Washington 1981 at age 13. On the Miss Washington website under requirements, it says you would have to "be a single female 17 years of age, but not older than 24 by December 31st" to be eligible to compete. I guess that rule could have been changed since 1981, but assuming it hasn't that puts her DOB more like the early 1960s, right? Maybe a "dubious" tag is warranted here, or just leave it blank and add the category Date of Birth Missing. Zephyrnthesky (talk) 05:13, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Two facts. Miss America has always been ages 17-24, in order to compete. Also, according to US Copyright application records, Kristine's year of birth is 1963. Under [1] it is unlawful to provide false information on the application. All of Kristine's applications and copyrights have her DOB as 1963. In order to compete in the Miss Tri-Cities pageant the girl cannot be younger than 17 but no older than 24 at the time of National competition. She was Miss Tri-Cities 1980 then Miss Washington 1981 before competing for the Miss America 1982 title. Miss Tri-Cities takes place during the summer (typically in July before Water Follies) and the Miss Washington pageant a few weeks before. This means she had almost a solid year as Miss Tri-Cities (1980) before competing for Miss Washington (1981). Miss America, on the other hand, has changed when it takes place as it now takes place in January. Basically what this means is that she was born no later than 1963 in order to have held the title of Miss Tri-Cities 1980.

I know she claims, now, that her birth date is June 3, 1968 but that is a lie on her part to appear younger (since it would make her only 12-years-old as Miss Tri-Cities). Since she won the 1980 Miss Tri-Cities title and her birth day is suppose to be June 3 that means she was born no later than 1962 since the girl must be 17 AND a high school graduate.

WA state allows kindergartners to enter school at the age of 5 (must be 5 BEFORE September 1, state law). Let's use that as a base for figuring out how old she might have been. If her birth month and day are correct - June 3 - then let's use the year 1962 to figure out if it matches.

  • June 3, 1967 she turned 5 making her eligible to enter kindergarten during the 1967-1968 school year.
  • June 3, 1968 she turned 6, enters 1st grade during the 1968-1969 school year.
  • June 3, 1969 she turned 7, enters 2nd grade during the 1969-1970 school year.
  • June 3, 1970 she turned 8, enters 3rd grade during the 1970-1971 school year.
  • June 3, 1971 she turned 9, enters 4th grade during the 1971-1972 school year.
  • June 3, 1972 she turned 10, enters 5th grade during the 1972-1973 school year.
  • June 3, 1973 she turned 11, enters 6th grade during the 1973-1974 school year.
  • June 3, 1974 she turned 12, enters 7th grade during the 1974-1975 school year.
  • June 3, 1975 she turned 13, enters 8th grade during the 1975-1976 school year.
  • June 3, 1976 she turned 14, enters 9th grade during the 1976-1977 school year.
  • June 3, 1977 she turned 15, enters 10th grade during the 1977-1978 school year.
  • June 3, 1978 she turned 16, enters 11th grade during the 1978-1979 school year.
  • June 3, 1979 she turned 17, enters 12 grade during the 1979-1980 school year.

On June 3, 1980 she turns 18 and graduates from high school then shortly there after she competes and wins the 1980 Miss Tri-Cities pageant. If she graduated from Moses Lake High School (since that's where she was living at the time) then she would have had her graduation in mid-June. If she graduated from Pasco High School (or Richland High School or Kennewick High School or Kamiakin High School) then she would have graduated the 1st or 2nd weekend of June.

Using this logical deduction, there is no way she was born AFTER 1962 in order to have competed and won the Miss Tri-Cities 1980 pageant. You can't compete in the state pageant (other than the new Outstanding Teen portion which is still new) without first having competed and winning a local title. So if she's claiming to have been born in 1968 then that's a lie since it would make her only 12-years-old at the time she won the 1980 pageant.

She is currently 48-years-old (as of June 3, 2010).

(outdent) To the anonymous editors who keep changing the date of birth, please stop. I'm guessing that you think you are helping her somehow by doing this, but so long as her status as Miss Washington 1981 is undisputed (and referenced), you are damaging the integrity of the article. I just changed it back to what I thought we had settled on as the correct DOB, 1963. In doing so I deleted a "reference" where somebody said they heard her say it was 1968, which isn't anywhere near good enough for wikipedia. Besides, the date entered in the infobox said 1973! Next thing you know she will have born in 1982 and will be the first person crowned Miss Washington while still in the womb. I'm watchlisting this page. As a member of Kristine's promotion team, and to end the age debate, we've removed the birthdate completely. The whole when was she born isn't important while she's still alive and well. Kristine asks that you source your information directly before posting as this article will be fine tuned by her team in the very near future.
