I read this book as a young child when it first came out in English translation, back in the '50s, and I've always remembered it fondly. I recently recommended it to a friend of mine to get for her son, and started looking for references to it and to it's author, Rene Guillot, on the internet.

I was surprised to find no information on Wikipedia, so I've started compiling an entry on Rene Guillot.

(If you know anything about him, please add to his entry.)

A lovely story ~ I must find the book, somewhere, and read it again...

Anyone else read "Kpo"..?

There is some concern over the notability of this story. Can you perhaps illuminate why an article on this story is an important contribution to the Wikipedia? Also, you may want to sign your posts in the future by typing four tildes (~~~~). Finally, Wikipedia is not a discussion forum, so we aim to keep the talk pages focused on improving the article. Hi, Max. Thnx for your input. (I'm new to this, as you can see.)

As to 'notability,' I'd say this was a significant, groundbreaking contribution to childrens' storytelling in that it is not only entertaining but is also instructive in terms of Africa and African wildlife and in that it speaks to the reader about the importance of conservation.

(Though I only entered it, initially, by way of cross-referencing the Rene Guillot item I've contributed.)

I believe it was also a watershed in Guillot's career, in that it was a successful switch from 'adult' books and set the writer off in a new, and prolific direction. (But I'm checking this out...)
