Fair use rationale for Image:Kotsovolos.jpg[edit]

Image:Kotsovolos.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 10:26, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:COI and Connected Contributor[edit]

  • @Tartan357: [1] For me, the relationship of VickyMajnl to the company is apparent, espesially if we take a look to their contributions to the company article in the Greek language WP. So far, I do dot see any kind of educational assingment [2] [3]. Although I cannot dismiss the user's claims on this, I think that what they say is not convinving. This account has edits only related to Kotsovolos. Their persistence in el/WP since last September [4] against other editors (sysops Ttzavaras, Kalogeropoulos, user Glucken123 and myself) inter alia to keep a full, detailed list of the company's stores in the article, as if it were a data base, or ingoring the notifications of others that this is an info of no encyclodpedic value but purely commercial, and something everybody can get from the companany's website listed at the external links of the articles, proves my reasoning for placing the templates of WP:COI and Connected Contributor [5] [6]. Furthermore, user VickyMajnl at el/WP never said anything about an educational assignment. They brought this argument forth only now, and only at en/WP. In the Greek languague WP they claimed [7] that they got an approval from en/WP for the article in English edited by them ("το αντίστοιχο αγγλικό μας λήμμα έχει εγκριθεί"). Please note that the statement by user VickyMajnl was made in "14:07, 19 Νοεμβρίου 2020", that is before any discussion on the COI subject here, at el/WP, meaning that it was an argument made up to confuse the editors of the Greek-language WP. Another claim on the aforementioned statement was that their contributions to the Greek article was merely a colleclion of content from artciles in other WPs, put together by them to the Kotsvolos articles ("Έχουμε συγκεντρώσει τις πληροροφίες αυτές βάσει άλλων λημμάτων της Wikipedia"), wich is an untrue claim. Finally, see this statement ("The image is taken by an HR employee [added bold] of this specific retail shop") at Commons [8]. So, all things considered, I think that the COI and Connected contributor templates have to be restored. ǁǁǁ ǁ Chalk19 (talk) 11:00, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Chalk19, that all seems reasonable to me, but as I have not looked into their contributions at other Wikis, I reserve judgement. I came across this issue while on Recent Changes Patrol, and I do not speak Greek. Their exchange with me on their talk page seemed genuine, but I defer to your judgment as you've been dealing with this issue for longer than I have. I'd hate to think that they lied to me, but am aware that that sometimes happens. I ask that you reach out to them on their talk page—providing the same evidence that you've presented here—and give them an opportunity to set the record straight. I'll restore the COI templates. ― Tartan357 Talk 11:11, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Tartan357 thank you for your response. The user has been notified (pinged) here, so I think there is no reason to repeat myself. But I will add a link to this section to their thalk page. ǁǁǁ ǁ Chalk19 (talk) 11:19, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, we never informed you before about our background because none ever asked us, for our purpose on editing this page. We asked for your help many times. I never lied. We collected some info from the hr department of this company, and we declared this when the system asked for the source. I created my account for this specific wiki page and never said the opposite. We collected the information based on what we saw an other companies in Greece and abroad: Aegean Airlines: https://el.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aegean_Airlines >> history, financial data, awards, cooperations, citation types Alpha Bank: https://el.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha_Bank >> images Coffee Island: https://el.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coffee_Island >> stores https://el.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public >> stores Walmart: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walmart >> charity Google: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google >> structure Amazon: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazon_(company) >> Board of Directors Pepsi: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pepsi >> old ads Coca-Cola: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Coca-Cola_Company >> recycling IBM: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM >> info and images provided
But when we tried to apply all those on this company page, the editors removed parts or all the info we added with no excuse and sometimes with the excuse that the content was commercial. We asked for help to remove the commercial texts and noone helped us. They just removed it.

VickyMajnl, so what exactly is the nature of this educational assignment you're working on? ― Tartan357 Talk 12:46, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
VickyMajnl, also, please stop saying "we". Sharing accounts is not allowed. You assured me that only one individual was using the account. ― Tartan357 Talk 12:47, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I say we cause we are a team. Ι am not the only one trying to add info on this wiki page. There is MariaMavr that also created an account and contacted the greek editors to seek for help during this summer. The other members are making changes as guests. We two created accounts so we can upload images. We had to create a valuable digital page for a company. Instead of creating a facebook page or just a mini website we thought it would be better to create a digital presence in Wikipedia and collecting the historical data that can stay online for future generations. VickyMajnl (talk) 13:14, 20 November 2020 (UTC)VickyMajnl[reply]
VickyMajnl, okay, well you're going to have to stop saying "we" and "us" to refer to actions that are supposedly yours alone, or you will be blocked for sharing your account. And please, explain what this educational assignment is. I'm getting the impression that Chalk19 was correct and this account is being used for promotional purposes. ― Tartan357 Talk 13:29, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • comment (following an edit conflict with Tartan357) @VickyMajnl:A a couple of questions. What sort of educational value has a detailed list of all the Kotsovolos stores ? Moreover: on October 1st [9], el/WP's sysop Ttzavaras warned you to refrain from adding the full stores list to the Greek article, but since then you have been doing this repeatedly, producing edit wars with other users of el/WP who share Ttzavaras views on this subject. Is the addition of that list a central thing in your educational assignment ? ǁǁǁ ǁ Chalk19 (talk) 13:41, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
PS. The other account's correct name is MariaMvrd. ǁǁǁ ǁ Chalk19 (talk) 14:36, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I tried to add the stores several times, and I did it because I saw it in another company page. If there is no value for a user to find the stores here then I will delete them. Actually you may delete everything. This is taking too much from your time and my time. I am sorry for all the trouble I may caused you. VickyMajnl (talk) 14:55, 20 November 2020 (UTC)VickyMajnl[reply]
VickyMajnl, it wouldn't take much time if you would answer the question about the nature of your educational assignment. ― Tartan357 Talk 15:09, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I am sorry. It is for Alexandrio Technical University of Thessaloniki Greece. For the part time Masters in Digital Marketing. The need was to create a digital page for the overall company's digital presence that will provide value. — Preceding unsigned comment added by VickyMajnl (talkcontribs) 15:21, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
VickyMajnl, thank you for your honesty. I think we see the crux of the problem now. Your assignment is to "create a digital page for the overall company's digital presence that will provide value", and is for a digital marketing program. That's textbook promotional material, and Wikipedia is not a platform for marketing of any kind. Per WP:NOTPROMO you should not try to use Wikipedia to complete this assignment. You are welcome to contribute to other topics unrelated to your assignment, following the guidelines for reliable, secondary sourcing that I pointed to on your talk page. ― Tartan357 Talk 15:27, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
