Kleig vs Kleigl[edit]

Are this lights really called klieg lights or are they kliegl? --Lekogm 19:44, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Both, as far as I know. I believe, however, that Klieg light is the more common spelling in recent years, as the official company catalogs seem to indicate. See http://www.klieglbros.com for more information. Girolamo Savonarola 20:13, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Size and Weight[edit]

Are these lights inherently large and heavy? In the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) biography of actor James Cagney I found the entry, "According to James Cagney's autobiography Cagney By Cagney, (Published by Doubleday and Company Inc 1976, and ghost written by show biz biographer Jack McCabe), a Mafia plan to murder Cagney by dropping a several hundred pound klieg light on top of him was stopped at the insistence of George Raft. Cagney at that time was president of the Screen Actors Guild, and was determined not to let the mob infiltrate the industry. Raft used his many mob connections to cancel the hit." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dick Kimball (talkcontribs) 22:38, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Some, especially studio fresnels, were quite large, as are their modern counterparts, however, they produced several models, and some were quite small and light as well. -JWGreen (talk) 23:08, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Klieg/klieg[edit]

Is it proper? I was unsure so I was following the rest of the article and the dictionary.com/wiktionary definitions. It seems it was named after two Kliegls, but klieg may not need capitalization. Anyone know who to trust? Davewho2 (talk) 03:15, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is a brand name, and therefore is propper, as well as the fact that it is the named after the last name of two individuals (which doesn't always indicate if its propper from what I understand). Its not the name of the company, but a name of one of their product lines. -JWGreen (talk) 04:40, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image of light[edit]

Just thinking maybe an actual image of the light would be something helpful to add to the article? Morton.Michael.NC (talk) 05:45, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
