Kiviaq (Inuit lawyer)Kiviaq (lawyer) – or Kiviaq (Inuk) or Kiviaq (Inuk lawyer). Because Inuit is the plural (see Inuit and Inuk) the title gives the impression that he is a lawyer for Inuit rather than a lawyer who is an Inuk. The article should be at a singular name. • Support Kiviaq (lawyer), as per nom. We typically disambiguate by profession, and then by nationality or ethnicity only where further disambiguation is needed. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 15:53, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Career[edit]

While Kiviaq served on Edmonton city council, he succeeded in winning recognition for David Pisurayak Kootook, a teenaged boy from Taloyoak who died while saving the life of Martin Hartwell, a medevac pilot whose small place crashed north of Yellowknife in the early 1970s.

Kiviaq campaigned for federal government recognition of the rights of Inuit who do not live in Inuit territories. He initiated a Charter-based court challenge alleging that the federal government is failing to give Inuit the rights enjoyed by status Indians. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tphilippi (talkcontribs) 18:29, 29 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Can we have sources for these, please? DS (talk) 15:40, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Run-On Sentencing[edit]

Throughout the article, there are many run-on sentences consisting of extensive amounts of information. With further revision and editing, these sentences can potentially be broken into separate and more organized statements, allowing a more suitable flow. Referencing[edit]

Further revision of this article's referencing is necessary. There is a lot of information presented in comparison to a lack of in-text citing. I will conduct more research into external sources and revise the information at hand in order to create greater flow and reliability. Also- the link to reference number 2 is unaccessible. Hopeful for more organization to follow. Marielfrancisco (talk) 03:49, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for pointing out that #2 is no longer online; I have replaced it with the appropriate link to archive.org. DS (talk) 14:28, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Link Addition[edit]

Kiviaq was involved with so many different things throughout his lifetime, in which each have their own Wiki Page that readers should be able to access straight from this article, if more information is desired. There were many implementations within the article that could be Wiki linked. I plan to add these after proper researching upon these topics. Marielfrancisco (talk) 03:57, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
