King Biscuit Flower Hour[edit]

There is a horrible amount of misinformation on the internet. One of the mistakes that is widespread is the notion of the King Biscuit "Flower" Hour. As far as I know, it is the King Biscuit Flour Hour, named after the King Biscuit Flour Company. For references that this is the correct spelling, see "the entertainment entity" that delivers the show. (Do a search on the page for "flour hour", also do a search for "flower" and see that it is not present. More evidence is [1]. An interesting bit of evidence is [2], where the website says "Flower Hour". However, if you look at the album cover you can see that the album has the name "flour hour", even though the website believes it is "flower hour". Propose that this page be moved to "King Biscuit Flour Hour". --BostonMA 22:26, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I've done some research, and it is very ambiguous. There is a line of CD's called "King Biscuit Flower Hour Presents..." I'm suspecting that there was a change of name at one point, or that the original "Flour" Hour became defunct and a "Flower" hour took its place. If anyone knows the facts, please record them here. --BostonMA 23:01, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

http://www.kingbiscuit.com/about.htm claims that the first King Biscuit "Flower" Hour was on February 18, 1973, and featured the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Blood Sweat & Tears and a then unknown Bruce Springsteen and his E Street Band.

Regardless of what the show was once named, the current owners are definitely using "Flower", so I'm moving back.

King Biscuit Flower Hour gets its name from "King Biscuit Time", a 15-minute blues radio broadcast. It was sponsored by the King Biscuit Flour Company. The rock 'n roll program named their show the "flower hour" as a pun, and to pay homage to this highly influential segment of American radio. See King Biscuit Time. I added some info to the article to reflect this. 192.234.13.40 16:58, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure that the program was originally named "flower hour". See album cover. This is not the only example. The only thing that is really clear to me is that the curren name is "flower hour". --BostonMA 18:12, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lest any confusion arise from the completely uninformed discussion above, the subject of this article has, from its inception, always been known as the King Biscuit Flower Hour. Any suggestion that it has at any time ever gone by any other name or spelling, particularly “flour”, is simply incorrect. Piriczki (talk) 22:08, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

thank you, o wise knower of all!!!!
while i suspect you are correct on the spelling, how about posting a SOURCE for such a pompous declaration? "everyone is confused here; what *I* say goes!" HAH!! 2601:19C:527F:A680:EDEC:EDBF:BFBE:905C (talk) 14:40, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Is King Biscuit Flower Hour still active?[edit]

I read somewhere but can not retrieve it, that the radio show does not exist anymore. The article do not make reference to the current status. The official site does not mention radio schedule anymore —Preceding unsigned comment added by Willdside (talkcontribs) 08:51, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
