Photo?[edit]

Does anyone happen to have, or have access to a photo of Kent Road from 1976-1994 that we can use? Thanks--Kieran207 (talk) 01:55, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Possible new details about South Wilton station[edit]

I've been doing some searching, and I found a surprisingly clear photo of the station. I'm not sure of the copyright of the image so I'll just link it here. This brings new details about the station that we may not have known before.

  • The station had a high level platform
  • The station possibly had two tracks (The tracks seem to split near the end of the platform). Although this is unlikely as for the most part, the Danbury Branch has just 1 track.
  • There was another outbuilding north of the main station house.

  • I also just found another timetable from 1945 that shows the station as "Hopkins (South Wilton)". That can be found here under Norwalk Mills.----Kieran207 talk 18:12, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Also,it could be possible that there was two tracks at South Wilton. Tylercitystation has old photos of both cannondale and Wilton stations that show 2 tracks at the station.Kieran207 talk 19:32, 7 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • New Breakthrough! In L.Peter Cornwall's book, In the Shore Line's shadow; The six lives of the Danbury and Norwalk Railroad. I have found timetables that show that South Wilton was actually a Flag stop when it first opened. The only reference I can find for this is an 1853 timetable, but no other timetables show it as a flag stop. So it appears that it may have been a flag stop when it opened, but not anytime after that. Secondly, I have discovered the exact date of when South Wilton closed forever! In a 1971 timetable (again found in Cornwall) shows that South Wilton actually closed on February 1, 1971. Also, I have found that the station was only ever called "Hopkins" from 1933 to 1945. Thank you and I will come back here with any new details I find.--Kieran207 talk 12:47, 29 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have found a Val map showing the exact layout of the station. Yes, there was a small shed behind the station, and yes, there were two tracks.--Kieran207(talk-Contribs) 15:17, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
