How to refer to him[edit]

Given "Kazu Hiro" derives from his original given name "Kazuhiro", it is unclear whether he considers "Hiro" to be his surname. The official biography refers to him as "Kazu", but a primary source can often be less formal than an encyclopedia. I think we shall refer to him as Kazu Hiro on every occurrence for the time being, until a source emerges to clarify. Nardog (talk) 05:19, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality in lead[edit]

Hello. As per WP:CONTEXTBIO, "Ethnicity, religion, or sexuality should generally not be in the lead unless it is relevant to the subject's notability. Similarly, previous nationalities or the place of birth should not be mentioned in the lead unless they are relevant to the subject's notability." Since he began his career in Japan, should we change it to "Japanese-born American" or "American [...] of Japanese descent" if it's absolutely necessary? Thanks. I don't think it's much "relevant to the subject's notability" (and definitely not "absolutely necessary"), but if I had to choose, I find "Japanese-born" at least slightly better than "of Japanese descent"; the place of birth is easier to establish (and is established) by reliable sources than ancestry. FWIW, he seems to hate his previous nationality to be emphasized though: [1][2]. Nardog (talk) 20:10, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
