UK chart entries[edit]

I've done some initial digging and, except for the entry with Rownan Keating, I can't find trace of Kate in the UK charts. Is there any indication that John is not part of the band anymore (on Kate's website he is still listed as part of the band) and that he is done with producing her albums and that there will be someone else producing any upcoming ones? --VeronikaMM 18:03, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Biography needs improvement[edit]

Somewhere in the development of the article, the chronology of Rusby's career is lost or at the very least becomes confusing. Based on NME and Allmusic, as well as the article's discography, the timeline runs like this:

First performance at 15 at the Holmfirth Festival where she meets other young artists, including Kathryn Roberts
Early collaboration in duo with Kathryn Roberts
Duo's brief collaboration with Equation
Joins The Poozies as lead vocalist
Simultaneous with The Poozies, her solo career takes off

Other than pinning down the specifics in breaking away from The Poozies, this isn't that complicated, so the Career section should simply trace the progression rather than jump around. I'll do what I can to revise this section accordingly. The NME and Allmusic citations I used in the Discography should help others with the basic details. Meanwhile, additional sources would help considerably in filling in detail and assuring verifiability. In addition, the lead could be improved by summarizing who she is and what she's done, rather than dwelling on fansite-like puffery, sourced or not. Allreet (talk) 18:50, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think the references to her origins and/or place of birth is expressed confusingly. At the opening, and in the the background information box, it says she is from Penistone, South Yorkshire (a small market town in South Yorkshire close to Barnsley) but then under "Career" it says "Rusby was born into a family of musicians in 1973 in Sheffield, England." To add to the confusion it then goes on to talk about a "Fellow-Barnsley folk singer". Maybe "fellow South Yorkshire folk singer" would be more accurate. At any rate, I'll take out the "in Sheffield" (birthplace is not relevant to career anyway), assuming it is a mistake. I have restored the born in Sheffield as this is given in the GRO Index for births (see this if you have a subscription or your library has a subscription). The origin field in infobox is not necessarily the place of birth but often the place where the person in associated with. To quote the infobox documentation "The city from which the singer or group originated (that is, the city where the group was founded; or the city where individual performers started their career, should it not match the location of their birth). Is there a reason the articles footnotes are numbered from 2, with 1 being a dead link to an article, judging from the headline, discussing the reliability of wikipedia? Date and place of birth[edit]

FreeBMD has only one birth entry, between 1970 and 1975, for Rusby, Kate Anna, mother's name Senior, registered in the first quarter of 1974 here. But this was in Sheffield, not Barnsley. Martinevans123 (talk) 19:59, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
