An Inuit woman with tunniit, facial tattoos
An Inuit woman with tunniit, facial tattoos
  • Alt0a ... that an Inuit traditional belief says women would be denied access to the afterlife by the sea goddess Sedna if they did not have finger tattoos?
  • ALT1a: ... that without facial tattoos, Inuit traditional belief says women would be sent to the land of the crestfallen to spend eternity with smoke coming from their throats and their heads hanging down?
    • Reviewed: Infinity symbol
    • Comment: The sea goddess in Inuit culture is Sedna, as per Jennifer Alford's source "Reclaiming Inuit culture, one tattoo at a time" at CTV News. If you wish to use the fingers tattoos referenced in ALT0 the photo can be: Milukkattuk (36951).jpg, Thank you in advance to the reviewer!

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems

Hook eligibility:

  • Cited: Yes
  • Interesting: Yes
  • Other problems: No - Either hook is okay with me.
Image: Image is freely licensed, used in the article, and clear at 100px.
QPQ: Done.

Overall: Well done. My only issue is the overuse of citations. Some facts are cited more than once. I would back off on the double citing, but that shouldn't hold this up. --evrik (talk) 23:56, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Ornithoptera and Evrik: hi there! This looks super interesting :) umm, I'm a little uncomfortable representing Inuit legend as fact; are you okay with hedging the hooks a little? theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 08:42, 7 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Theleekycauldron:, hey leek, glad to be working with you again! Not entirely sure by the jargon "hedging" means here, but I'm assuming you mean altering the hook. If so, be my guest. Though, I'm nnot entirely sure how to word it, so you are very welcome to suggest or alter it yourself. I would preface any potential alterations with making sure that it is sensitive to the culture involved. Thank you so much for the feedback! Ornithoptera (talk) 09:38, 7 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
