Article name[edit]

I have moved this article back to KLVX from KLVX-TV. Consensus on both WP:NC#Broadcasting and Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Television_Stations#Article_names is that the article name should reflect the actual call letters of the TV station. As can be seen here: [1] the call letters for this station are in fact KLVX. Any concerns regarding this topic would be best addressed here: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Television_Stations. Translators' List[edit]

This station can be seen all over Nevada, except the Reno market to my knowledge, but even that is iffy. KLVX used to show a translators' list like all other Vegas TV stations. I don't know what will happen with the digital switch for these signals. Anyways, KLVX comes in quite clear in Pahrump, NV, and I think it goes out to Barstow, Kingman, and some other far-away places like that. Again, the actual list would actually help in this matter. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Coffee4binky (talkcontribs) 05:35, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

When growing up in Las Vegas, NV, during the weekdays, when the kids were in school, KLVX used to air filler broadcasts of either a helicopter, live, flying around the deserts surrounding Las Vegas, usually filming the canyons, lakes, dry or low-flowing rivers, sand dunes, etc. Sometimes, these fillers would also air, taped, a random, abandoned beach somewhere in California, with the camera right on the water, sometimes getting hit by the waves. When the helicopter footage was shown, the time would display at the lower-right of the screen where the modern bug is today, and the beach footage had the time at the top-left. Yanni-styled music played during the helicopter footage while the ocean sounds were allowed during the beach footage. These fillers stopped in 1998. Local kids throughout the Las Vegas area called these "The Channel 10 Time Thing", since they didn't know what technical term could actually be used at a TV station.

KLVX is 24 hours on Cox Cable in the Las Vegas area and 24 hours on CMA Cable in Pahrump. CMA Cable and the digital channels aren't available in Pahrump currently. Over the air in Las Vegas, KLVX stopped airing at midnight the main OTA channel.

Not mentioned here or at the KVBC or Giovanni's article, but the New Age pianist Giovanni used to make a local TV show filmed at KVBC and aired on both KVBC and KLVX called Giovanni's World of Music. The show is no longer on the air as of 2002 (the last time I actually watched it).

Also not mentioned is the production of local programming specific to the Las Vegas and Nevada area politics, which features local newcasters and journalists commenting on stories from the local news (sans Pahrump news stations) and articles from the local newspapers. I think it's called Nevada Newsmakers, but don't quote me on that. I don't watch the show because the commentators are too far disconnected from the people's problems in Southern Nevada.
