Cleanup[edit]

Despite the fact that I'm not a long-time WP editor, I've boldly deleted a chunk of text as being beyond salvaging. I realize some editors have tried to make technical corrections to things like the frequencies mentioned, but the text itself is not useful. It appears that it was originally added by an anon IP editor (216.61.136.249) who I strongly suspect to be Michael Castillo, mentioned in the text himself. The text was entered as bold (when I deleted it it was "only" italic), mislocated below the "Callsign & Moniker History". It's also in poor English, which I'd be glad to fix, if I had enough of a clue what was meant in the first place. Here it is:

In 1995 A new station KRQT (relaunched as KTBZ six months later) opened from the ashes of the elder classic rock KZFX carrying with it this new modern rock sound. It's drive time lineup used many of the KZFX team Like Duffy Slade, Michael Castillo, and Col. Tom Parks. It gathered many KLOL listeners as well as the general management and sales staff. The word was then that KLOL was the Titanic. However, it was sold to Clear Channel as well in 1997. Thus ending it short two year reign as the new ownership decided to take on (then Modern AC) KKPN 102.9 The Planet.

If somebody wants to make use of this text or some of the ideas behind it, feel free. It'd need incorporating into the station history higher up, but I don't know where. This leads me to a second point.

The article as it currently stands is IMHO a bit vague and sloppy. The text is written well enough, but it lacks citations and reads like some guy at a bar telling you a story. I know very little about the station (which is why I came to the article in the first place), although I listened to it a lot for several years, so I'm not the best person to fix this up. Name in the 1980s[edit]

Regarding "The station changed its moniker to 101 KLOL." When I was in Houston in 1986 the DJ added "Houston's album rock station". But I don't have a citable source for this. Vox Sciurorum (talk) 22:28, 5 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
