claim about Jarand erronenous?[edit]
What's the source that disproves the claim that the name came from badly-handwritten Jarand? Looking around, I see plenty of sources repeating that claim but no one against.
As for "George", that sounds wrong -- the official translation is "Jerzy" (a very popular name, unlike Jurand which is almost unheard of). Usually multiple translations are ok, but not for a name of a prominent saint, as people in medieval Poland paid an insane amount of heed to saints and hagiography.
