Sorting names alphabetically[edit]

I've made the table sortable,[1] but I wasn't sure how to sort some of the names (Hsu Mo, Benegal Rama Rau, Muhammad Zafarullah Khan, Lucio Moreno Quintana, etc.) Polemarchus (talk) 01:11, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kotaro Tanaka[edit]

Hi,

Kotaro Tanaka links to another Wikipedia page, that seems to be a different Kotaro Tanaka born in 1901, a photographer. I believe that the ICJ judge Kotaro Tanaka was born in 1980, according to the German Wikipedia page.

Could someone check this out please?

Much later, but done. Since 2011, someone apparently made the name itself into a disambig page. I just went there, clicked on the judge, and embedded the full title page into the wikilink, leaving the name that shows in the text as is. IMHO (talk) 00:53, 8 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Luis Alayza y Paz Soldán[edit]

I think the table lacks Judge Luis Alayza y Paz Soldán. He was not also appeared on the ICJ table, but he had actually been a judge of the Court and given judgments, including that in the Asylum Case. --Aristitleism (talk) 04:26, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, he was a judge ad hoc. --Aristitleism (talk) 04:28, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

UNITED States District Court District Of New Mexico CASE No.18cvWJ/GJF MEMORANDUM OPINION AND ORDER To PROCEED IN FORMA PAUPERIS under 28USC 1915 or as a seaman under 28USC 1916 Jabbaristarboy (talk) 15:37, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ad hoc section[edit]

Perhaps a second section for those who sat on cases ad hoc should be added as well. IMHO (talk) 19:13, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately the list All Judges ad hoc on the ICJ page is incomplete.

(e.g. Giorgio Gaja was judge ad hoc in two additional cases) --89.204.137.195 (talk) 16:46, 11 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Who is Abdul Wahab?[edit]

Who is Abdul Wahab (India, 2014)?
Is this a joke or vandalism?

Sort by country[edit]

I have added hidden sort text to the country column of the main table, instead of the previous approach which sorted by the name of the flag icon. This was initially motivated by an oddity with the two Republic of China judges: while the table displays "China", the flag icon is labelled "Taiwan", which meant that when sorting by country, both judges are found neither under "R" nor "C". I have kept the hidden text the same as the country names actually displayed -- I thought the WYSIWYG approach is most user friendly. In the process I found a couple of oddities (most of which were also slightly odd when sorting by flag icon name). I am not sure whether these need to be addressed. If they do, I would suggest simply changing the hidden sort text as appropriate.

  • "USSR" is displayed separately to "Russia", even though Russia is recognized as the USSR's successor state;
  • "West Germany" is sorted under "W", not "G";
  • There is one judge labelled as "USSR/Russia", who is sorted under "U", not "R";
  • There is one judge labelled as "Dahomey", which is sorted under "D", not "B" for Benin. --PalaceGuard008 (Talk) 13:45, 20 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
