Dates and identity of Yeshu[edit]

If R. Yehoshua ben Perachya is identified as "late 2nd century BCE" then it is hard to reconcile with his being Jesus' teacher; even if Jesus was not born in year zero the discrepancy can't be a century. There is a difference between traditional Jewish chronology, as for example in Seder Olam, and archaeological chronology, of about 160+ years. Perhaps this could account for the difference. It would be of interest to see some discussion of this (by those more knowledgeable that I!) The date of Jesus's ministry are not so certain. It is probable that the date of his ministry was altered to make the theological connections between his crucifixion and the destruction of the temple more explicit.
