Untitled[edit]

Original: August 1, The original version of this Wikipedia page was a fluff piece of biography. While it was factually accurate, it did not tell the entire story of Joshua Workman's political career, leaving out huge chunks of information. Frankly the original article bothered me and offended my sense of decency. Wikipedia is not supposed to be a place where you advertise yourself. It is a place where knowledge is shared, so I did some digging and provided a more balanced view. The revised article is a more balanced and factual look at the story of Joshua Workman. What is now posted in the article is an acurate, fair portrayal of the Josh Workman saga.

Original: I would love to see the sentencing documents. Do you have a link?

Reply: You can obtain the via a freedom of info request from the US department of justice.

Original: Nice summary by the way.

Reply: Agreed.

Original: Actually with all our back and forth, I think we've got a pretty good page here. This seems to be a complete story and as I said way way back at the start of the day, I look forward to watching this story continue.

Reply: So Workman got a slap on the wrist from a nice Republican judge and plead his way down from 10 counts to two to keep his butt from doing hard time. I would hate for any college boy from Canada to do serious time in a South Carolina institution, even considering the seriousness of the charges. It was a white collar crime, and just because he plead to lesser charges didn't mean that he didn't lie. Its pretty clear that at some point he did.

Original: I think it was North Carolina. The judge was a man named Lacy Thornburg, who was a democrat - appointed by Clinton (http://www.fjc.gov/servlet/tGetInfo?jid=2384). The prosecutor was a democrat as well. I don't think there was any "deals" here along those lines, I think from what I can tell and reading the judges summary from the sentancing, the prosecutions case was weak and lacked some key facts.

re: Speedy deletion notice: there's an interesting story here. Workman is prominent in conservative politics here in London, is often quoted in the London Free Press and is highly involved in the London not for profit scene. I would hate to delete this article, which has significant background information already researched and cited and then need to bring it back next week or next month when Workman is in the news again. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.179.76.99 (talk) 15:46, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

My concern with reverting your edit had to do more with the fact that was no edit summary, which may appear to be vandalism. There are a number of sources in this and I don't think it meets the criteria for speedy deletion, but one shouldn't simply remove the tag with no explanation. Welcome to Wikipedia, btw, and thank for your contributions. I'm going to add a welcome message to your talk page that will give you some links that will hopefully guide in your future edits. It was not a speedy deletion, it was a wp:prod, which per WP:CONTESTED, the user has the right to remove. It was not vandalism. --CutOffTies (talk) 16:00, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don't feel that this person warrants a Wikipedia entry, nor should he be listed as a notable alum of Lees McRae college. This article was clearly self-written. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.45.100.129 (talk) 20:40, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
