Why Hootenanny?[edit]

why is it called Hootenanny? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.130.84.123 (talk) 00:31, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

See the main Wikipedia article. It's an old word for "party" and several other TV shows have used the title. Pawnkingthree (talk) 11:46, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dates[edit]

Which year was it first broadcast? Has it happened every year since? --David Edgar (talk) 10:16, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Lily Allen & Roger Daltrey[edit]

The playlist (as at this timestamp) for the 2009/10 show is correct - neither Lily Allen nor Roger Daltrey performed, although they were billed as appearing, and the Radio Times even has a piccy of Roger Daltrey apparently performing. To my certain knowledge, they were not even present among the 'beautiful people', although they may of course have been inside the polar bear. Anyone got the story as to what happened - it's hard to imagine the BBC pulling the acts after recording unless the artist has died or gone to jail or some such (George O'Dowd had of course just been released from jail), neither of which apply here.--Elen of the Roads (talk) 01:39, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

IP editor, rather than just reverting, please discuss where you saw Lily Allen and Roger Daltrey. Show is still up on the iPlayer - give me the times where they appear on the video and settle the matter, because I can't see them on the show.--Elen of the Roads (talk) 20:07, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why is hootenanny a misnomer?[edit]

The article states that the name is a misnomer but then goes on to describe it as an informal music event which quite well sums up the spirit of the show. Can we remove this sentence please?! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.125.134.149 (talk) 11:38, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2006/2007 playlist[edit]

I still have this episode on DVD somewhere. I can hunt it out and compile the playlist if it would be useful?Barrydrink (talk) 22:24, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hootenanny (BBC program)Jools' Annual Hootenanny – Exact name of the show as per the BBC for at least the last two years [1][2]. January (talk) 12:37, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Support as per above, but mainly to remove the non-BE "program". -- [[ axg //  ]] 16:42, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Support: my thoughts too. Rothorpe (talk) 16:58, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Who on earth gave the article a foreign name? -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:25, 7 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It was moved from Hootenanny (UK TV series) (which was WP:ENGVAR and WP:NC:TV compliant) without discussion recently, I could have just reverted that move but I thought the full title was more appropriate. January (talk) 15:55, 7 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The above discussion is preserved as an archive of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

A little bit too listy?[edit]

Does anyone think this is all a bit too listy? We go from year to year listing who played and then a setlist with no notes/blurb about the recording or production of the episode. I realize there's probably very little we can write about each edition, but is there anything we can do to make it look a little less like one long list? steveking89 20:48, 10 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Rowland Rivron[edit]

His prediction piece is no longer an annual feature. Do we have any source for it, or information of when it did occur. If not, let's just remove it. Kevin McE (talk) 01:02, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
