Honorific prefix and suffixes[edit]

Hi - I do not think we need the honorific prefix and suffixes in the infobox. The rank already appears in the infobox as a separate parameter so why repeat it? Likewise awards already appear in the infobox and the main text so why repeat it (a third time)? If you look at many thousands of other military articles (certainly across Canada, Australia and the UK) we have tried to standardise articles without honorific prefix and suffixes. Hello,

Apologies if I'm formatting this incorrectly, I've only just started to get into editing Wikipedia.

MOS:POSTNOM, explicitly lists the infobox as one of the few acceptable places for post nominal letters.

Regarding having the post nominal letters in the infobox, post nominals are sometimes granted with awards, but is not necessarily tied to them. For example, members of parliament have the post nominal "MP", but it is not an award.

The awards list is also incorrect. A person is not awarded the Order of Military Merit, they are admitted to it.

Canada tends to include post nominals granted by the crown, as they becomes part of one's name. For example, in the UK, the "PC" post nominal, as having the title "Right Honourable" is enough to indicate he is a Privy Councillor. In Canada however, the "PC" post nominal as well as "Right Honourable" is used.

Though Canada shares a similar background with the UK and Australia, it is a different country. The topic of the article is about a Canadian general, so I don't think it make sense to try and standardize things when all three countries have different honours/naming systems.

Hi - The format of military infoboxes is effectively already standardised across the World. Wikipedia articles on US and Russian generals and admirals do not use post nominal letters in infoboxes either (which is not surprising as they tend not to use post nominal letters anyway). And this is the result of the efforts by many wikipedia editors working on military biographies over many years. But that is not the primary point which is that it makes little sense to put the same information in (i) the lead (ii) the post nominal section of the infobox and (iii) the awards section of the infobox. It is overkill. Dormskirk (talk) 20:59, 15 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Marital Status[edit]

Should information on his multiple wives be included?

Vance's decorations[edit]

The decorations on General Vance's article is outdated. He got the Commander Legion of Merritt on Wednesday a day before he retired so that should be included in his ribbon count. Redfenril (talk) 14:00, 15 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Allegations of Inappropriate Behaviour[edit]

How should the allegations of inappropriate behaviour be added to this page? [1] CurrentlyResearching (talk) 04:46, 19 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
