Activities outside of sports[edit]

This article should be expanded to cover his activities and accomplishments outside of athletics. For instance, he is an accomplished mathematician and has been published in numerous well-respected math publications. He also has written articles in sports publications. These journalistic and mathematic activities are worthy of inclusion in this article.SecretName101 (talk) 21:10, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure he should be called a mathematician, though. he has a masters degree, and he has published in low impact journals, but perhaps wait until he has a PhD and a career in mathematics before calling him a mathematician. I know many PhD students who have masters degrees, and who are published in good journals, but the convention is not to call them mathematicians, chemists, or psychologists until they have a doctoral degree and or a faculty position (or research position in industry). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 169.234.84.17 (talk) 21:36, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Actually not true. Meth cooks are called chemists, Stanton Friedman worked as a physicist with only a Master's degree and according to Michio Kaku, PhD it's quite common for a working physicist to not have a PhD., many of the physicists on the Manhattan Project hadn't yet completed their PhD's.
