Notability[edit]

John Hillman received the 2010 Award of Excellence from Engineering News-Record (ENR). This is their highest individual award (formerly called Man of the Year). ENR is a reliable, secondary source. The publication has been in business for more than 100 years. It is a widely-circulated weekly publication (80,000 copies). Hillman was the subject of an 8 page article outlining his accomplishments that led to this award and the invention of the hybrid composite beam.
