Lede[edit]

  • As with the last GAN, needs to be expanded; I'd suggest two paragraphs. A bit more on his education, what he did in his various roles, etc.

Done Expanded lede, but I am resisting the insertion of duplicate details from the main body text. With your consent, I would prefer to keep the lede as an overview. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 03:23, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • "and political appointee"? Sounds slightly defamatory (I know it's not). I'd suggest "university professor and administrator who served as the U.S. Commissioner of Education from 1921 to 1928", amending the next few sentences to take the mention into account.

 Done Agreed. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 03:23, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Early life and education[edit]

  • Link Nashville.

 Done Linked in previous sentence. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 03:27, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • "member of Phi Delta Theta" - "member of the Phi Delta Theta"

 Done Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 03:27, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Any links for "All-Southern"?
Unfortunately not. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 03:27, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Educator, et al[edit]

  • "Wesleyan Central College" - is that the same as this? If so, could you link it?
No, sir. I confirmed that it is the school in Fayette, Missouri. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 03:27, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • "the age of twenty-seven, he was" - "the age of twenty-seven, was"

 Done Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 03:27, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • "After returning to the United States, Tigert taught at the Methodist-affiliated Wesleyan Central College,[6] and, at the age of twenty-seven, he was appointed president of Kentucky Wesleyan College. That same year, he married the former Edith Jackson Bristol" - it doesn't mention which year that was.

 Done Inserted 1909. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 03:27, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • "While a professor at Kentucky" - "While there"

 Done Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 03:27, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • "Tigert also established the faculty senate, the Institute of Inter-American Affairs and the Bureau of Economic and Business Research." - needs an inline citation

 Done Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 03:27, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • "1947.[23] Afterward, he worked as an educational consultant " - "1947,[23] working as an educational consultant "

 Done Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 03:27, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
