Building utilsation[edit]

When John Barnes closed, wasn't half the building used as a Heels/Habitat store? with Waitrose only gaining access to the whole building in the 2000's --193.35.250.235 (talk) 12:19, 7 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you're right. I visited the shop in the 1990s and about one third of both the ground and first floors on the Goldhurst Terrace side of the building were occupied by Habitat. Also at this time, part of Waitrose but with a separate entrance in Canfield Gardens, was a cafe called 'Food All Day'. It was fitted out in exactly the same style as the John Lewis 'Place to Eat' restaurants of the era (green, pink and white tiles, green leatherette booth seating etc). I think part of the ground floor was originally let to Woolworths on completion of the building in the 1930s. AndrewSE19 (talk) 19:48, 7 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
