Hoax?[edit]

A Google search for this person turns up a cricketer, not a football player. Article is completely unsourced and article creator refuses to respond to my inquiries on their talk page. If sources aren't added within a week or so, I will be nominating this article for deletion. Cheers, CP 18:05, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I did find some data on this cricket website. The personal information is the same. I think we can just rewrite the article so that it refers to cricket not football/soccer. I wouldn't go so far as to call the article a hoax. --Merovingian (T, C, E) 18:09, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I would argue that it does constitute a hoax – it is deliberately false and misleading information. If the article just said "Joe Lodge was an English footballer," then maybe I could assume good faith and say that someone mixed up their footy players and their cricketers. But this article extends the data to list a number of clubs that he played for, which clearly indicates more than just a simple "oops, my mistake." Furthermore, the number of unreferenced articles that this user has created (I thought most of those were hoaxes too until I searched on allfootball, since there's very little information on them via Google) and his apparent unwillingness to respond to my comments about sourcing makes me suspicious. Anyhow, if I don't get a response from the article's creator soon, I'll fix up this article to reflect the cricket data. Cheers, CP 00:57, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Turns out that he played both I guess. Highlights the importance of citing sources though... Cheers, CP 18:22, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
